Audio help

Evening all

So on from my previous post regarding the static interference, I've noticed that if you move this white wire the interference either goes away or it gets worse. If you look at the top left corner there's an electric block used as a connection point. I'm pretty sure land rover wouldn't do this as their standard wiring. Anyone happen too know what this white wiring is for and why it would increase the static sounds. Other thing I wanted too find out is the device that these wires go into at the bottom, does anyone know what this unit is please.

Surely no one is stupid enough to split a fibre cable and attempt to rejoin it with a electrical connection block Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

And yet the previous owner couldn't work out why there was interference in the radio. Tbh once you turn the volume up it drowns out the static sound but it's gotta be replaced....

OK so I hate too admit this chaps.

What does the fibre optic cable do?

It transmits data around the Canbus
You need something like this that fits your cables note this is for BMW you need to get similar that fits LR systems maybe they are the same fibre size I dont know

Tbh I'll just replace the whole loom. I'm not a fan of cutting and chopping wires or replacing them, that way I know its done.

Would this dodgy repair job possibly be the cause of the static interference

And it's all rectified. Spent £44 on the cable and it works a treat. Sound system sounds so much better without the static interference so I'm happy with that. Took me all of 20 mins too change
