Any Fuel Experts Here Please?

We are having an issue with wifeys 2012 SC... Since filling her car with this new E10 fuel, her engine management light keeps coming on for "running lean bank 1 & 2"

Any thoughts please wise ones? Thumbs Up

E10 petrol has a lower cetane rating than E5 so if the car is set up to optimise performance on E5 then it could give the systems your wife is experiencing. Generally assumed that the lower cetane rating will impact on consumption by circa 5%.

Perhaps try mixing E10 and super unleaded? Or a fuel additive. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Super unleaded is still E5 here...

Craig... Mine runs OK on E10 but it does pink a bit on light throttle high gear situations so I do one tank of each and it seems OK... Thumbs Up Pete

In the UK Super Unleaded is E5.

Thanks guys, it’s literally happened within minutes of me filling it up with E10 for the first fill up! Drove home, some 30min drive and as I got close to home the EML came on! Strange so I plugged her in and it’s telling me Bank 1 too lean Bank 2 too lean!
Now I’ve just recently changed the snout on the SC so wondered if I’d messed something up? But I’ve checked my work and all is fine… Now every time the car is driven it’s giving the same faults! All within 2 miles or so… Problem is, her full tank may take 2/3 or maybe 4 weeks to empty!

Don't want to be called an expert, but I have had my name on several petroleum licenses in the past....

Short answer is that ALL my petrol vehciles are running E5 super unleaded now, regardless of what the government suggests. E10 is what we would have considered to be poor quality fuel in days gone by. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile
