E10 petrol has a lower cetane rating than E5 so if the car is set up to optimise performance on E5 then it could give the systems your wife is experiencing. Generally assumed that the lower cetane rating will impact on consumption by circa 5%.

In the UK Super Unleaded is E5.

Thanks guys, it’s literally happened within minutes of me filling it up with E10 for the first fill up! Drove home, some 30min drive and as I got close to home the EML came on! Strange so I plugged her in and it’s telling me Bank 1 too lean Bank 2 too lean!
