Front airbag struts

Hi all apologies if this has been covered - my front struts are a bit bouncy so I was going to replace the pair.

What are the best value for money to go for? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

Delphi are OE, I've read you should keep away from Dunlop as they don't last, as for the rest, it's really had to decide...

With something like a strut I'd err towards genuine/OE, at least you know they will work as they should and last a decent length of time, especially if you are keeping your fatty for a while...

Just my 2p....

Thumbs Up Pete

I went with Arnott, 6 months on and very happy so far.
Had Dunlop. No clue when exactly fitted. The rubber part was still very good but the shock absorber was knocking most of the time. Worked well enough to pass the MOT but I couldn't live with the noise.

@VS322

Bit late to this but I have an Arnott strut to be fitted. When other makes have been fitted it emphasises NOT to change the air line fitting.

However, the Arnott instructions suggest the opposite saying the have already installed the fitting and it is a question of removing the olive etc from the airline and using a push fit to install the airline (whichis what I did with the Discovery 2 rear airbags).

Did you have similiar fitting instructions and is that what you did? John

@Weegie

I used the existing fittings i.e. the old ones. They fitted just fine and kept the Arnott as spares. Haven't had any leaks in 8 months...
Arnott says that you remove the old fittings and all you have to do is remove the shipping cap, stick the air line into the Arnott fitting which is ALREADY tightened, then pull back a bit to secure.
As I didn't have any leaks, I decided not to mess with the fittings and kind of ignored the Arnott instruction. So I either got lucky or it doesn't really matter.

Dunlop items fitted to my 2006, no complaints whatsoever, made in the UK and prices are reasonable as well.

To quote haylands - just my 2p........ Folks will have their own favourite brand. Thumbs Up

Thanks for that. 👍. It worked fine on the D2 so might go with their view. John

You can't go wrong! Thumbs Up

@Merchy

I was genuilely impressed by the Dunlop airbag condition and quality. I can't rule out the possibility of someone having gone to town with an impact wrench on the strut at some point. I might take it apart one day as an autopsy...
