The dreaded shudder on an auto is usually related to the TC. I'm trying to find out right now if there is a software upgrade for the gearbox.

TC is pretty much what I thought. It's far from bad yet and has only progressed very very slowly since I first noticed it about 10k miles ago. I'll keep the proverbial eye on the situation. Drives:

Have you checked the fluid level?

Also worth checking the correct fluid was used when it was changed |

Correct fluid was used, it did it slightly before it was changed (not why I had it done, it was on 75k so I thought it was a good idea). Still wondering if a mega flush might improve things. I might try it but it's a dilema, if it works, great, but if it doesn't it's a waste. Drives:

Bodsy is your man for a Megaflush. Comes to you on your drive.

I'd get a ZF gearbox specialist to diagnose it properly before changing more oil esp if it's already been serviced. |

Thanks, and yes I agree. It's not bad yet, just a gentle shudder so I'm going to wait and see what develops. I'vebeen in touch with Bodsy and he says it sounds like an internal problem rather than needing an oil flush. Drives:

If you’re happy it’s got the right fluid in then I’d still check the l level before spending on diagnosis, can’t be any harm checking the simple/cheap things first |

That's true, and a good point. My Dad always told me to check the simple things first (he was a mechanic)! Drives:

I have a similar issue - mainly at very low rpm. Slight shudder, release throttle, on throttle, fine. Just had a new TC - it’s going back to check levels 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

The downside of an ordinary 'oil & filter' change [gearbox] is only around 40% of the oil is changed. A mega flush changes around 95% of the oil & at 88k I personally would have a mega flush done regardless. £300-£400 should be ample & much cheaper than any gearbox work that you may look at. Might turn out to be the TC but the easiest & cheapest way forward is a mega flush.
