What an absolute ballache of a job to get the alternator out !!

Honestly , wouldn’t be so bad on ramps but on a driveway absolutely doable but a pain in the arse !!

Have the alternator out and bench tested it , it’s barely putting out one volt, so thankfully it is the alternator that’s the problem , I’d be so off if I pulled it out and it was working fine 😂

Has anyone successfully rebuilt one of these denso dan1110 alternators ?

Don’t fancy spending 300 quid on a new one !

Hi, £194 on Amazon. I would look for a regulator and brush pack. Have you checked the Battery control unit is working OK?
I believe the Alternators are Machine sensed. I would also get a drop test done on the battery as well. Replace the bearings as well if a bit lumpy. Check the diodes for reverse current. Brushes get too short and one gets no current to flow. How did you bench test the alternator? I thought you had to spin them at 6000 revs into a load to do that. In the days of Lucas, king of darkness I used to take a dud alternator to Brighton to get it tested on the machine at Lucas HQ.
