I haven't posted here for a while as my old L322 Vogue was a massive pile and I ended up swapping that for a new baby and a more reliable car.

However I got drawn back in and last year I bought a 2007 S/C - at the time I thought it would be a good idea, it had a lot of miles of the clock but the engines are bulletproof right, RIGHT??

It turns out they're not as bulletproof as the name implies and a few weeks ago mine lost all compression and 90% of the power, I crept home managing 30mph on a flat road with my foot planted, and 50mph if we were lucky enough to go downhill. I took it to a local garage and they had the horrible job of informing me that my beloved has passed away

Thus reason for my return to the forum is what do I now do with a dead horse of a RR, I don't have the money to punt a reconditioned engine into it and hope for the best, equally trying to rebuild a 150,000 mile engine seems just pointless.

Is there anywhere RR go to die where they give you good money in return for the carcass?

Depends what you term as good money. They usually fetch a couple of grand when listed on eBay for spares or repair.

If we weren’t at opposite ends of the country I’d be interested.

Lost all compression? Sounds like garage speak for I don’t want to touch that with a barge pole…. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Have to agree did you have the faults read etc?

I see your in Essex mate. Take it to Dartford transmissions and get Martin too have a look. Could be loads of things that it could be mate. Maybe look at getting a cheap diagnostic unit. I know they ain't as good as the gap unit but will give you an idea of what's possibly wrong

Sorry sir but i have to disagree... IF, he has engine damage, no diagnostic tool will read a fault with a mechanical failure...

I know what you mean mate but I've had it on my old vectra gsi. Was told it was a dead car so got an old reader and turned out it was just the throttle position sensor and maf sensor that had given up. For the sake of a fiver might give some indication especially as its still running at present
