I am chasing a drain and resorted to thermal imaging and found this overnight in the distribution box, looks like R1

Any ideas what that might be powering? Or is it stuck?

I`m having some battery drain in my 2011 L322 4.4tdv8 and I was wondering if you could solve you issue so I can have some advice on what to look for

R1 in the original post is for the accessory sockets.

The accessory sockets should not be live once the vehicle has “gone to sleep”, at least on the 2011 car that the original poster has.

Perhaps pulling the relay will prove something?

The accessory relay powered would be an indicator that the vehicle hasn't gone to sleep rather than a cause. Stuck contacts wouldn't power the relay's coil.

I have in mind that the blue-tooth module has sometimes been the culprit.

Bluetooth does not seem to work, some times (very little) does and most of the times it does not work so that could be the problem

when I open the car I can see that the light on the volume button is blinking.

Harleyman, the Blutooth phone modules will give exactly the symptoms you are describing. Pull the fibre optic plug connector out the back of the unit, dismantle the plug connector so the two wires are free to move independently. Then get a Bic pen, remove the innards the cut the remaining clear plastic tube of the pen to about 3" long, insert one of the cables in each end so they are facing each other within the tube of the pen but not touching, then wrap the whole thing in black electrical tape.

Yes it's a bodge and you can get a proper bypass kit to fit at a later date, but it'll stop your battery from draining and it will allow everything else (Blutooth phone module aside) to work normally.

the thing is that everything works fine (at least I have not seen anything not working) less the Bluetooth

Do you think buying a Bluetooth will solve this?, I would like to be able to use my mobile phone when driving in case i need to answer a call

What I don´t understand is that if the Bluetooth module is not working how can it drain the battery?

A phone call in progress when the ignition is switched off isn't disconnected, at least for some time but perhaps whilst ever the call continues which suggests that a fault with the telephone module could keep the some of the electrics awake even though the phone isn't in use.
Mine had a flat battery one morning not long ago and whilst I didn't recall it at the time, at about the same time I had a call in progress when I had parked so switched off the engine as I knew that the call wouldn't be terminated.

Can you check if the telephone module s/w level is at the latest level? Mine is but that doesn't mean that it's perfect.

Hello Harleyman, yes that's issue, all the time the car is running everything else will work fine. What tends to happens is you can sometimes get water ingress into the left hand rear control module compartment. As the phone module is mounted on top of all the others that tends to be the one that gets it first.

I had the same issue on my 2007 MY. I could have replaced the module, but I wasn't confident of how much compatibility there would be between a 2007 module and a 2020 iPhone so never bothered, just carried out the bypass outlined in my previous which cured the battery drain. Everything else worked as it should, just not the phone.

But as you say, if yours is a 2011 MY, it may be that it is more compatible with the latest smart phones. Remember though to check for water ingress as a possible root cause of failure.

I´m going to check if water gets inside that area, to me it seams dry but I will check pouring water to the car and see if any gets inside

No problem with phone support on my MY12.

Another owner had a BT/phone problem in a s/h vehicle that was traced to the CCF showing a LR phone cradle was fitted when no cradle was fitted, resolved by changing the CCF to specify no cradle.

I have a feeling my CCF is not right, how do I find the default for my car?

Update:

- I have gone through the left rear electronics bay. Pulled all the modules apart and found all to be clean. Three pins seem to have some residue on the bluetooth module but PCB is clean.

- Inverted the Park assist module with wires facing down

- AMK Compressor serviced with new media and o'ring (had lots of moisture??)

- Installed FBH receiver and amplifier SOLD | Tuned MY 2011.5 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey | e-diff | ACC
