Rear disc removal

Wanted to change rear disc today…but once I had wheel off, brake calliper off, I was unable to rotate the disc so I could align the adjustment hole to the spiked spigot to back off the old shoes.

What am I missing? I could only move the disc a few degrees in either direction before it stopped

Did that. Came to a stop. Selected neutral. Ensured park brake not selected. Switched off ignition

Try keeping the engine running when in neutral, when you turn off the car it goes into the park?

Do you not have to jack both rear wheels up?

I seem to recall mine re-applied the EPB when leaving in neutral and turning the ignition off, so I think I left the ignition on whilst lining up the holes.

Edit Tinman beat me to it!!

Could be EPB could be automatically applied when turning off ignition. Difficult to say really as the rotary gear selector withdraws flush and the lights go out.
I could try leaving the ignition on …….but no mention in workshop manual about ignition being left on
And you tube shows everyone effortlessly spinning the disc

I didn’t even reach the point where the spigot gets adjusted to back off the shoes
Adjust backwards says the manual
Does that mean push the spokes upwards ?

I agree with nicedayforit as long as the handbrake is off.

Make sure you have both rear wheels off the ground, this will then let you turn the wheels via the rear diff if all the brakes are free and H/brake released! If you have three wheels on the ground your going to really struggle due the 4x4 system.
Sorry if I’m stating the obvious but an easy one to trip people up with constant 4 wheel drive.
As for the adjuster, it depends which way it was flitted last time. Try turning it, if it locks the disc go the other way. Thumbs Up

I can jack up at the back using the central mount / jacking point
And then with wheels still on see if there is any variation of engine on / ignition on to work on the wheels

If I can only work on the discs with engine on…then off to an Indy it will go
Would be curious if that was the requirement

When l last did mine l jacked up both rear wheels and to get sufficient leverage on the disc l wanted to rotate l used a breaker bar between two of the wheel studs. Worked without engine or ignition on, indeed l can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t.

Same here, jacked the back end completely and both rear wheels will turn. Car in neutral and EPB off Thumbs Up
