Where does this belong??

Dear Forum

last weekend I removed the LH inner wheel arch lining to repair my wheel strut. Then one piece of soft rubber (approx 15-20 cm) fell out. I have no clue where that has to be refitted. Any suggestions would be welcomed as I am about to refit the lining soon.

See the picture of the part:

I asked the very same question, about a very similar looking item about 4 years ago!

Mine came out of the LH side of my car which is RHD. I never got a definitive answer from any user on here, but I think I worked it out in the end.

See here: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic56526.html

Yours looks slightly different, not sure if your car is LHD or not? But perhaps it's a different shape to accommodate brake pipes on a LH Drive vehicle?

It's the insulator that tucks into the side of the wing and onto the A pillar? 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Thanks D3Jon

The part is still a bit differently shaped. It fell off on the LH side on my LHD model. Is the FBH located also on het LH side of my vehicle?

When the weather gets better, I will again crawl under the vehicle and have another look.

The text I found on the part is:

BH42024578A
>PUR<
R80FA

Although the B may also be an 8. Not the typical LR partnumber though.

@GaryRR, you mean the part the becomes visible in the A pillar when opening the bonnet? No, that's still there. As with D3Jon it fell off when removing the LH wheel arch lining lining.

I'd say the differences are between LHD & RHD.

My part number for the similar looking part (but not exact), was BH42-02457-AB

Which is very similar to your's, I'd say it fit's in a similar position to the RHD one, but without the notch out for the FBH pipework.

Just grabbing the images from my older post, mine went here:

Thanks D3Jon

Sounds logical. Will update this thread as soon as I crawled under my L322.

@D3Jon: is this rubber piece situated behind the wheel arch lining? In other words do I need to remove the lining before I can place the rubber piece back?

Thanks for your advice.

Hi Rob,

Yes it's held in place by the wheel arch liner pressing against it.

That's why it falls out if you remove the liner. I think originally there would have been some adhesive, mine looked like it had the remains of a sticky pad on it.

You would probably get away with releasing a couple of screws / clips and pulling the bottom of the wheel arch liner away to get it into place.

Not sure why yours is different, I presume your brake pipes and fuel pipe are all on that side? Perhaps the FBH is in a different location on a LHD vehicle? I did a quick check with Google but couldn't come up with any info on FBH location variations.
