Throttle Body replacement on 2011 4.4 TDV8

Hi guys. Quick question, once I have replaced the throttle body, will it need calibration? I the butterfly looks like its in the same position and the unit I'll be removing.

If it does need calibration, has anyone carried this out using their IDD Tool or do I need to use the JLR SDD software?

Thanks

Interested in why you're putting a new throttle body on.

When I did mine it was plug and play.

I suspect the butterfly had gummed up causing the gearing inside the box to strip. Indications were the hunting of the unit when shutting down and kangaroo juice on moving away on start up, resulting in RP.

It is because this was my last hoe to cure the "Restricted Performance " issue as per my previous post.

Interesting Richard. Mine shuts down quietly but I do have the Kangaroo juice now and again. Dare I take the throttle body off and look at the gears. Don't want the screws snapping on me!!

Kevin

I replaced mine due to the noise it made when shutting down, a high pitched whine with two notes and the butterfly appeared to move by hand more than I thought was due to normal play. The bolts are thread sealed and I snapped two on removal after fitting the new unit. I think I said in my post you could try heating the bolts area, but there are elecrtronics under the palstic cover to be aware of.

HTH Cheers

My bolts came off really easily when I replaced the inlet manifold, a few weeks ago.

I used high melting point grease when putting back, secured at 12 NM.

Took them out again today to replace the throttle body, with no problems.

MTG2020. I was on about the screws on the plastic cover over the gears mate.
Cheers Richard. I might try a really hot soldering iron on the end of the screw to see if I can get the thread sealant to soften. Does the new throttle body come with the rubber seal to the manifold? Cheers Kev.

Whoops! Okay. No you have to buy the "O" ring seal separately. Cost me £1.80. The Throttle Body cost me £158.00 including VAT. Looking around, this was a good price, but for the sake of £1.80, you would expect JLR to include it.

Kevin

IIRC I had to buy the seal seperately.

Edit

Just seen MTG's post on price so still cheap. Cheers

Hi Kevin. Replace the Throttle Body, it's made no difference at all. Sad

I am now in in the process of replacement EGT sensor. This is definitely nackered, there's a code for it. Hopefully, that will cure all the RP issues because it has caused DPF regeneration issues, which will result in RP.
