United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Bournville
Sun Roof Seal

Just noticed Seal has small slight "lift" to it, see pics. Not sure if frost has got underneath or it was always like since I bought it. No sign of any ingress, what's best fix? Can wait till it's warmer and maybe push down but it's cold and maybe brittle at the mo. Can run some sealant along it then? Any tips appreciated.

Looks like it’s been caught on something at some point, or it’s been through the monkey enclosure at a safari park......

It seems to have some discolouration so I would imagine it’s been like that a while, if it’s not leaking then I wouldn’t worry too much about getting it done today, just make sure your sun roof drains are clear so any water which does get in is able to flow away. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks, Yes I thought it looks like a snag somewhere. Is the Seal replaceable or is it best just to "patch" up? 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy

i should imagine it would be a lot of work to replace that seal, i would dry it out and glue or put sealant in it... ... - .- -.

Hi Ricardo,

I had the same issue on my L322 when I carelessly backed out from under a partially closed garage door with the sunroof tilted.

The sunroof glass itself has a triangular section bonded onto the edge of the glass to which the seal is slotted - see the attached diagrame.

WIth the roof tilted, clean around the exposed parts and you should be able to push the seal back into place - do it on a warm day, though! (actually, this is a serious comment - the surrounding seal is quite stiff, so to avoid damage it would be better on a warm day)

Good luck!

2010 - L322 3.6 - Carried me 100,581 miles then broke big-time

and those that don't.

A carefully used hairdryer, with a cloth to protect paint etc should get you out of trouble !

I’ll try that myself as mine has a little lift on the seal too

Yes definitely worth a go. Probably will add bit of sealant too to help ! I've used a mouldable glue called Sugru before to seal things, is very handy stuff. 2009 Range Rover Vogue 3.6TDV8, Bournville, Parchment/Navy
