Rear tailgate issue / loose bolts

Hi guys,

Got a small issue with the tailgate strut where is connects to the chassis. Annoyingly if I turn the nut the bolt simply rotates and does not tighten, it is hard to describe but I'm guessing that something has broken of inside of the frame. It is currently really loose and feels like it may pop out at any time. It looks like I may need to remove the black fascia to get to the internal side of the bolt. See photographs below.

1st image shows the issue, 2nd image shows what it should be.

I had my external D pillar covers off to paint them and I don't think there were any holes that you will be able to reach the back of the stud. I think you might have to remove the inside trim mate. Kev.

I had this same issue 12 months ago, I disconnected the strut, pulled the bolt tight using fingers and used the friction to tighten it internally then give it a good tighten with a wrench.

Hope you got it sorted.
