They have plenty of tread left… but haven’t looked at the pressure. They looked ok, but to be fair they could be under inflated. That’s a good shout!

The noise I am hearing seems to be coming through the car rather than from outside. Other cars coming past are quiet so the double glazing is doing its job well. My thinking about the bushes is they isolate the wheels from the arms, which are then Isolated from the body. If they are worn out or solid then some noise *could* transfer through???

Regardless the bushes are on the list, as are the tyres (when worn). Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Well took it for a 100 mile drive from Bristol to home last night and to say how much more quiet and comfortable the ride is an understatement. Totally transformed the car. I know some say they find the Hankook a very noisy tyre, I don't find that at on mine but then I guess I'll just have to wait until they wear down and see for myself. Be interesting to see what kind of mileage I get out of them.

Ffrr lover, let me know how you get on when you get the bushes done see if it takes away the road noise you are getting.

What size did you go for?

Hey Dave I stuck with the 285/35/22 as that was the only ones they had in stock and needed them rather urgently. And got them for a real good price so I'm not complaining.

Just for reference, I have Davanti tyres on mine. Didn’t buy them, it came with them and under £400 for full set. I thought they would be awful but I’m actually surprised. They do howl on poor road surfaces but ride is fine. Grip doesn’t appear to be an issue in a 2.7 tonne, four wheel drive tank in most conditions. I will be changing them to a premium brand when they wear out though. I have a rubber brand fetish… 😂

So no bushes have been swapped yet, but while “popping” a parking sensor back into the front bumper I did notice something…

I seem to be missing the plastic shielding under the car! Could this make a difference to the noise travelling into the car???

*Update*. Had Rosie in for a cv boot and the garage noticed a cut in one rear tyre and cords showing on the edge on another! Two new tyres require now. Wanted to know opinions on the 265/40 option rather than the 285/35. Anyone run this on 22’s?

I would say that's a strong possibility there ffrr lover. Driving along at speed you are going to get a lot of wind rushing underneath and going into the gap where the shield should be causing drag and wine noise I should imagine. Like I say, mines very quiet since tyres changed.

Rosie, further up this post bronjen and Craig did mention to run on 285/40/22's as give better comfort and ride and more protection against damaging the wheel if you hit a pothole. I didn't go for the 40's as I needed tyres urgently and got them really cheap so stuck with the 35's. It's your call. Though it's strange you also had a cut in your tyre too,I wonder if this of concern running 35's as I had a nasty cut in mine to and was badly worn. Let us know what tyre you put on and if any difference to ride comfort etc etc.

In reply to your question would suggest using 285/40/22 or 275/40 22 tyres.
the 35 profile side wall is too short and you have to use very high tyre pressures to stop the tyre carcass moving on the rim due to the weight of vehicle
40 profile gives better stability of the tyre due to the taller side wall and gives a bit of cushion to the wheel when going over large pot holes, most of the cracked 22 inch wheels had 285/35/22 tyres, just look at all the 22 inch wheels for sale on ebay that have cracks or have been repaired, whereas 285 or 275 40 series tyres seem to protect the rims from pothole damage and may also save the rim edge if you caught a kerb

I had 285/35/22 on my wheels for a couple of weeks when first fitted & they were awful & the ride was terrible for a Range Rover. When it went for MOT we noticed that at the back they had cracked under the weight of the car and still had 5mm on them.

I whipped them all off & got a full set of 275/40/22 Pirelli Scorpion verde. It made a massive difference, the ride was just like a Range Rover should feel, no more banging into pot holes & cringing. Quiet & smooth again & they wore really well, in fact never had a tyre that lasted so long & on such a heavy car. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography
