I think Autobiography was launched with the P38 as a personalisation programme, I still have a brochure from when I owned my 4.6 HSE in the 90’s. Autobiography has then become a trim level from L322 onwards. SV now caters for what Autobiography used to stand for.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the "Autobiography" name did get something of a break from all early L322 models (2002 to 2009).

I can only recall SE, HSE and Vogue models, with Vogue SE being the range topper.

After circa 2010 it did begin to reappear on the 5.0 Supercharged model - I say reappear, because as CSK also points out, I'm sure some of us can still remember the P38 4.6 Autobiography

My Defender has both on the P400. However the FBH was a cost option and can’t be controlled with the app (just the separate fob). The engine can be started with your phone.

Would be great if the FBH can finally be controlled from the app too. I can’t see any benefit on a cold day from starting the engine rather than the FBH.

Except…this ‘heated seat’ hack only works from starting the engine…

For those with hot stone massage seats, set this to ‘auto massage’ and then the hot stone massage still comes on when the engine has been started from the app so you’ve got a warm seat to jump into!

So in short, to be able to set the precise temperature in the car, you need the Cabin Pre-Conditioning, otherwise you're just starting the engine via the App and as the engine warms up, returning the car to the temperature setting which the car was left at - Is that correct?

Just going back to what somebody mentioned about starting a car and leaving the engine on before your journey can cause engine wear, TBH I always let my engine warm up for about 10 minutes prior to driving the car.

This is because I always remember a TV advert for Castrol GTX, where we were told that 75% of engine wear occurs when an engine is cold!!

This wasn't the exact advert, but was similar - Enough to worry me at least:

I'm fairly sure that letting your car idle to warm up for 10mins isn't the right thing to do, not with a modern vehicle that doesn't need the carbs warming through anyway. Better to let it warm up more quickly by driving it, but doing so gently until it is up to temperature. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

The technology of cars has come on in leaps and bounds in the past couple of decades, meaning that leaving your car engine ticking over first thing is now not needed - and sometimes harmful to your motor.

In fact idling actually prolongs the warm-up period, Road&Track told the Manchester Evening News .

The conventional wisdom that you should idle your car up to operating temperature comes from the days of carburettors, which needed several minutes of idling to get to an operating temperature where they'd run smoothly.

Generally, cars do not have this any more.

Why you don't need to idle your engine

Engines are now fuel injected and a better approach is to simply drive away immediately. Gentle driving warms the engine quickly without putting too much load on it before reaching operating temperature.

I had a MY16 AB with the FBH and you could control it via the App and fob. You couldn’t switch on the engine remotely at that time.

I then swapped for a MY17 with the FBH and could only use the App to switch on the engine and the fob only for the FBH (as is the case now). A step backwards in my opinion, which I reported on here at the time.

From experience the FBH will warm the interior and clear the front screen in the coldest of conditions. It also warms the oil which helps the engine warm up more efficiently. If you’re doing early starts on winter mornings it’s a must have. MY23 D350 HSE

The Remote App for my car has a "Target Temperature" which you set, it then starts the engine for 30 mins max. All LR cars from 1984
