During last year's lockdown my car was hardly used, so I bought an adaptor from the Forum shop (see above) and plugged an Optimate trickle charger (originally acquired for use with a motorcycle that is used only when there is no salt on the roads) in to the towing electrics. It was very easy and convenient, especially as I cannot open the bonnet when the car is inside the garage. If you have towing electrics that would seem the best solution. There are other kinds of chargers, I think others on here use CTEK, you'll see the kinds catered for by the adaptors on the shop page.

It’s all because of the emissions. If it’s not having load from the alternator when cold it’s better for polar bears.... I think.... it only charges to 80% anyway I believe, on the 4.4 TDV8 anyway.....

Thanks, I don’t have towing electrics yet so will put a socket under bonnet and connect trickle charger to that. |
