Sat Nav thinks I am somewhere else

I've had a search and didn't find anything. My SatNav thinks I am somewhere else I know where I am, but when I switch it on the SatNav shows me as being miles away. Is there something I can set or reset? I've been using Waze and its great but for simple "get me home" stuff the inbuilt SatNav is more convenient - well it was. Geoff

I think you will find that the aerial on the roof will be the problem? I had the same with my golf, I got a unit on eBay that just plugged into the back of the radio and sits in the dash? you may be able to use the same thing for your problem cheap fix?

Either your GPS receiver can’t get a lock for a reason to be determined. Or you are in an area where there might be an active operation in progress. I used to have that a lot in a certain area where I was staying in a hotel. Was a pain in the backside to order an Uber as it would never show me on the map where I was.

Had a play this morning, the GPS box has a red diagonal line through it don’t know why, but I suspect that’s the root of the problem Geoff

Ah, ok, I was just asking in case yours was a facelift 2018+ car because I had issues with software(including your satnav problems), which only resolved themselves when they fitted a new unit. All LR cars from 1984

3rd post down. Known problem which requires a software update to rectify.

Differing views on this, what's under the roof arial cover thingy, is it just GPS or is there an antenna for something else as well? I think I might take it to bits and have a look but if someone's already done it would be helpfu to know in advance what I might findl. I have ordered another GPS antenna from eBay to try, it was only a tenner so can go in junk box if it doesn't work. Another query is where does the GPS box/amp live in the back or is there not one. My car is as described to the left 2013 L405 Autobiography TDV8 Geoff

My 2013 acted just like yours. GPS symbol with a line brought it. Thought I was in Washington DC sometimes, but I love on the west coast of Canada. 100% a software update.
