United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Orkney Grey

Oh I meant to ask if anyone has an opinion on the Deployable Steps ?
Are they worth the extra compared to the fixed ones ? Are they reliable ?
They look like they give you a better foot up than the fixed for anyone who struggles to climb in to the height.

I wouldn't bother with deployable side steps. They are expensive, have to be removed if a tyre needs changing and don't really offer any real benefit. At access height the vehicle is easy enough to get into.

RE: Warranty - from what I've heard very expensive - circa £900 and doesn't cover a lot - a lot will come under 'wear and tear.' Had it on our Defender which was about £700 but crap.

I'd still go SE but try try try and get a 4.4 if you can.

Spoke to a RR technician today and he reckons the deployable steps don't need to be removed to jack up......
Can you let me know why you say they do have to be removed ?

thanks.

It says so in the handbook

P241 of the Handbook for 2011 Range Rover:

DEPLOYABLE SIDE STEPS
If the vehicle is fitted with the optional deployable side steps, DO NOT attempt to jack up the vehicle. The side steps must be removed before jacking can proceed. Refer to the information supplied with the side steps for removal details. Alternatively, refer to your Warranty Benefits book and contact the appropriate recovery service for assistance.

You have to remove the side steps or call LR Assist to get them to come and do it for you. This alone makes the prospect of side steps pointless.

I think you can still jack, but you have to use the "garage" jackinh points instead of the usual ones which I presume would be behind the steps.
I read it somewhere on another post, but can't find it !

But, that would seem you'll need to carry a hydraulic jack with you and clamber underneath to get to the points suitable.

Yes, and also if you jack up with the side steps and mess them up your warranty won't cover you.

Sorry, that make makes the option of fitting them on a vehicle with 4x4 capability a complete joke. Rolling Eyes

As has been said, the leather is much nicer but I don't think the premium of a new SE is worth it.

This (and obviously it's each to his own). I went for a 'standard' vogue with a few bits added.

Paying more for (definitely nicer) leather, heated/cooled seats and adaptive cruise (which I have had before), didn't do it for me.

I'm not convinced you'd get the difference back on future values...but happy to be proved wrong.

Don't worry re the battery probs. I did, but am happier about it now (having had an initial semi fix and having had it explained properly.). NB the car never broke down or failed to start. I just sometimes get the 'battery low start engine' warning.

I agree with Tomw2000. The jump from Vogue to Vogue SE is not as justifiable as Vogue SE to Autobiography IMO.

Thanks again everyone for all your thoughts & input.

Just one other thing, I went to check out a standard Vogue today and have to admit the leather isn't quite so nice, although one with perforated seats added was nearly as nice as the SE and as comfy.

I haven't found a dealer yet that has a new vogue or SE in together to actually compare side by side.

Does anyone know if the door trims / dash are any different ? I saw a vogue with ivory leather / black piping - definately not my thing and I personally thought it looked cheap & nasty on the door trims (that was a new 2011 model) A 2010 SE I looked at did look far classier, although it was in my prefered colours Jet/Jet with ivory head lining - it just seemed to gel together so well. So not sure if it was just the colours putting me off in the vogue or if indeed it has a cheaper finish on the door trims...... Confused
