Fan won’t knock off? Now flat battery

Stopped for fuel and on setting off again the fan noise was a lot louder than usual. Tried adjusting settings, Air con off and on etc but still a back ground noise.
At hone now and noise is still there even with ignition off and car locked. Seems to “slowdown” after a while but speeds up if a door is opened.

Noise is behind dash but no air being blown through vents with ignition off. It is not the radiator fan or the ecu fan.

Can’t see what fuses to pull to try and see what it is .....any ideas?

Problem compounded locked out and battery gone flat. Going to try and power through 13 pin electrics in the morning hopefully auxiliary power is wired up.

Once I get in if i disconnect battery , charge it then reconnect what issues am I likely to encounter - I don’t have a I’d tool 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Thanks for this the fans seemed to be working but this other noisy fan was ongoing even with ignition off . Would FSR failure allow fans still to operate ? I was thinking that it was something to do with the FBH. will investigate better tomorrow after hopefully opening the car ! 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Cheers, all dismantled - 4 screws in panel above pedals, only problem is that the OBDM connector is in the left side, managed to manouver full panel away from pedals and off to side of door.
Got old one out after watching you tube’s it is a BMW part ! Not what I expected in a 2012 so probably been changed before.
Battery on charge and new part coming Monday at a third of BMW price. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

Posting just to support Jo 90's diangnostic.

Had a call from wife saying that vent fan motor continues to run after engine stopped on 2011 FFRR. I suggested to just leave it and see if it shut down on its own. Well it didn't and flattened the battery. Luckily facility to charge the battery and got the car home. I had replaced the FSR on our other FFRR a while ago and obviously had the foresight to buy two replacements.

They are fiddly but definitely a diy job. Replaced and fixed ........ very satisfying. If you're slick and can find the fsr quickly it is a 30 min job. Have ordered two more ......... £25 each off eBay. RR L322 TDV8 4.4 SE 2019 to present
