Thats a better veiw of it. Just seems to be hanging there. Nothing close to connect to. Maybe just a breather?

Don't know why or where, but looks like a compressed air 'fast fit' coupling on the end of the hose / pipe.
Maybe someone added a compressed air testing line ? Has the piece between the fast fit coupling and hose got a built in ball valve ? Maybe a slotted screw for operating a ball valve ?

Took connection off pipe. Just an open end. Very strange.

It connects to the engine mounts. Should be a pipe coming down which connects to that plastic end.

There's a description in the WM/engine/electronnic engine control/locations with diagram. Here's the text. HTH

ACTIVE ENGINE MOUNTS
The active engine mount system comprises:
Two engine mounts
Vacuum control solenoid
Connecting vacuum pipes
The ECM controls the engine mounts via the vacuum control solenoid. The mounts are on (i.e. Solenoid activated which makes
mounts soft) at idle speed, and are switched off when the engine speed goes above a predetermined threshold. The threshold
is temperature and engine speed dependant, above 20ΒΊ Celsius the mounts are switched off when the engine speed increases
to 900 rpm. Below 20ΒΊ Celsius the mounts are switched off when the engine speed increases to 1150 rpm. Cheers
Richard

What would the problems be with this pipe not connected?

Perhaps this may help found it on a search for car active engine mounts.
