Anyone recognise where this little cover might be from??

I found another little bit of plastic in the car that I can't identify. It measures 60mm long and 34mm wide. Has some lugs on one side and reminds me of an AA battery housing cover or similar. I thought it might just be a random drop, but it has got a LandRover logo and number on the reverse L0346431AB and LEAR -GFFZA so may be part of the car. Its the same shiny black as other plastic bits in there, but I cant see a hole for it anywhere.

Any ideas?? Mike - MPx

A random guess, but perhaps a cover for a seat belt reel? I think Lear make seat belts.

Do a Google search on the part number and see if that narrows it down.

Yeah, first thing I tried too. But went back following Andy's guess and tried via LEAR who do seem to make automotive seats in Coventry so maybe possible but the trail dried up pretty quickly. Had another look around the car but couldn't get at the SB reels without serious dismantling which I'm not interested in doing so I'll just put it in the automotive junk box in the barn for now... Mike - MPx

Is it the flap behind the inside door pull unlock handle? It is curved and needs popped out to get access to the bolt behind it which keeps the door card on.

I've had the door card off our L405 recently and it could be that.

Very good call, thanks,....but no. Same size and general shape as the rear ones although the leading edge is a slant rather than square and on mine they are matt plastic whereas this piece is shiney. Mike - MPx

The OBD port cover? Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough (and have deep pockets|)

Might be worth sending an email to Rob at Duckworths with the part numbers on it and see if he can find it in the parts catalogue.

Treebore99 - Interesting in that my ODB port doesn't have a a cover - its not clear whether it should or not. On the L322 it was a fairly robust hinged cover but there's nothing like it on this L405. Do other L405s have an ODB port cover? Regardless, the hole over the port is not the same shape or size as the piece of plastic pictured above.

David - Its an idea thanks and I'll ask the question, but feels like a bit of a waste of Rob's time really just to satisfy my idle curiosity! Mike - MPx

There is no cover over the OBD port - interestingly, in my car at least, there is a secondary location, closer to the door, where the OBD port could also be fitted... Again, not covered...

The code LEAR-GFFZA points indeed to some seat parts.

Yeah, i did see it has a curve after I posted so figured it probably would be OBDB.

I like AndyS suggestion, a quick google, LEAR also make seats? could be seat belt or anywhere on / under the seats? Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough (and have deep pockets|)

Agree it seems most likely seat or seatbelt related, but nothing visible without doing any dismantling. Mike - MPx

Just a thought, the piece does looks very like an OBD port cover.
Any open OBD ports could get covered in dirt etc and render them unusable.

As I understand (may be wrong ) SV vehicles are sorted in a separate JLR factory / facility, they may be using non standard components, which are not on any standard parts listings.
