Air Con - help with diagnosis pls

Did an approximately 2300km trip this weekend, its summer here so temperatures during the day are high, on this trip highest noticed outside temp clocked 38oC. Id say the average was around 34oC.

Day 1 no problems.

Day 2 problems! Approx 3 hours into the drive the air flow from the vents all but stopped. Turning up the fan speed there is a real and audible increase in noise indicating there must be increased air flow behind the dash, but not really coming through the vents. Stopped in the nearest town, didnt notice anything on the outside, switched car off and got a snack from the shop, restart and all is ok again only for about another hour later for it to happen again. This second time more flow through the vents, but not nearly as much as expected/needed so turned it up to full (which made things bearable) - pushed on and arrived safely home.

Note
...that at all times ice cold air conditioned air was coming out of the vents, it was just not really blowing through the vents.
...also havent sorted this issue yet, related? https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic61207.html

Final stage resistor and/or blower motor?
...not so sure, when turning up the fan speed there was a noise increase indicating to me it must be doing its job.

Is it possible the evaporator was icing up blocking the airflow. Surprisingly l had this here a couple of years ago in hot 😂 weather, got the system gas topped up and never had a problem since.
You could try measuring the air temperature at the vents you describe as ice cold. When l checked mine they were at -1deg C,
The evaporator sensor should have shut my ac off before that temperature but didn’t.

This exactly what was happening to our Nissan X-Trail. Air con would work perfectly for an hour or so and then gradually the airflow would tail off until it stopped completely. The fans could still be heard running, but nothing coming out of the vents.

Basically everything was freezing up (weird considering how hot the days were when it happened) to the point where the airflow was completely blocked. The various pipes under the bonnet were encased in ice too.

Main dealer couldn't fix it. We eventually took it to an independent aircon specialist who resolve it - too much refrigerant, I think the problem was. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

How silly to not think of the most obvious thing - gas; guess the fact that it was still cold got my thinking of everything else. I reckon this is what happened to me. Booked for service next week, asked them to send for gas top up. 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
