Hello,

My first post after using this forum several times already to fix bits on my 2005 V8 4.4.

However, it would seem the latest problem is just a complete sh*t show of everything one could throw at you.

I've recently had the no hot air drama and I believe I have sourced the problem, heater control valve, and await the part to arrive.

However, this problem is childs play to where I am now!

Now I get the below issues;

1- No signal can be found for an OBD to link to RR

2- Often goes into either limp mode or complete shut down.
a) if it's 'limp mode' it'll sit hunting on low revs, almost like its running on 4-6 cylinders. It'll say HDC INACTIVE AND AIR SUSP. INACTIVE - turn it off and back on. back to normal again. for a short period.
b) cuts off completely. I have to whack it into neutral while coasting, turn IGN off and back on
c) all warning lights come on, centre screen shuts off, but still drives. Keep going and eventually it goes back to normal.

3- IGN switch is jammed. About 5 turns and it'll finally turn all the way and start

4- TRANSFER BOX IN NEUTRAL warning often comes up. Ignore it and it goes.

5- Intermittent heavy steering

I'm really hoping what seems impossible to solve is actually a common fix! I'd be grateful for any help you may have. I'm thinking could it be linked to the BCM, but really haven't a clue. Plus without the OBD signal I'm on my own!

Before spending money make sure the battery is charging and is holding a charge...

Whilst running you should get 14.0v to 14.5v

Battery should be 12.6v minimum (if it has been on charge it should have been disconnected for an hour before you test it)

Then try the battery disconnection procedure in the Wiki

Consider getting an IID tool to read faults, I imagine it is the reader you are using and not necessarily the fatty's fault..

Tip from Pete sounds like the right path, I have an old Td6 and over Xmas I was getting all kinds of weird faults which was confusing, also had an intermittent ignition switch failure that compounded this. Fitted a new battery, made sure it was charged properly ( also new ignition switch later ) Now all is OK - For now knowing these cars!
