Mate, I went from JE Engineering remapped TD6 to 4.4 TDV8, and it’s like a different car altogether. I’m sure if you had no mechanical sympathy, you could spin all 4 wheels setting off. It pulls like a train.... limited to 130mph.

I can only compare the TD6 with the 3.6 and it's not just the nominal horse power difference, but also the refinement. The TD6 is horribly noisy at 4000 rpm so it's just painful to run it at that speed up a long hill with a heavy trailer. The TDV8 has enough power that it doesn't need to be run at that high an RPM, and even if you did it's a much nicer sound. It's a much better tow car than the TD6.

I tow a near two tonne caravan with my 4.4 TDV8 and it is truly awesome. The phrase "you don't know it's there" is, in my opinion, overused but in this situation it's true. On a trip to Devon with the caravan on the back I accelerated off a roundabout uphill on a dual carriageway and I got to 80 mph when I noticed a) I was passing cars with ease and b) I had a caravan on the back! It is a truly awesome tow car and a really lovely place to be. Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it. --------‐--‐-----------------‐------------------‐--------------------------------------------------- 2012 4.4 TDV8 L322 Autobiography 2003 TD5 Oslo Blue D2 ES Premium Auto (with mods!) |
