new oil cooler fitted under waranty smoke issue

So thankfully got the oil cooler replaced under warranty and the o rings replaced in the oil Pipe, the garage cleaned up what they could of the old oil in the v and down the back of the engine, i collected on Wednesday and they said it would take a while for all the old oil to burn off but how long is a while, i gave it a good run today inc some foot to the floor moments which did put a smile on my face, got back home smoke from under the bonet not billowing but it stunk, had a look underneath and its bone dry no oil etc so thats good, has anyone had there oil cooler replaced and had this if so how long before it cleared 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

It depends on how much you use it, took a couple of weeks on mine the oil gets all over the place.

Had to have mine flushed 4 or 5 times in the end. Took a few days for oil smell to go.

I’d give it a bit longer before you worry too much.

Mine took ages to get rid of the smell. I soaked it in “ chassis wash” mixed 50:50 sprayed down in the v with a garden sprayer let it soak and gently rinsed it off, all good now, paranoia can take over if your not careful!.

If you’re using it for 20mins each day that’s a recipe for a DPF to start giving you issues. Take it for longer trips Thumbs Up

I replaced mine on Friday had a heart attack today got home from supermarket and smoke was billowing out but it smelt different Shocked ran the scanner over it and DPF had started to burn i guessed it would be it was heat generated if you get my meaning.
Been out since not enough for regen but no smelly oil!!
i am guessing over next few days and weeks it will just disappear.

To be honest from my experience there is not much you can clean up from the V as the main plate the oil cooler is mounted on and the EGR are all in the way i blasted loads of degreaser and got covered in crap blowing an airline around but that was it. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current
