Getting prices for a Service & MOT

Just been ringing round today to book a service & MOT.

Its a 2017 3.0TDV6 Vogue, 49k miles. (4yr service)

Its had Main Dealer servicing up to now, but thought I would compare prices:

Called my local independant https://www.durham4x4.net I used them many years ago on my Disco3 and they were very good, they also have access to LR Online Service History system

£375 Service & MOT No courtesy car

and I called https://www.landrover.co.uk/retailers/team...um=organic They have a great reputation and have used them before

Cost: £498.87 Service + £45.00 MOT courtesy car included

I also tried calling https://www.stratstone.com/dealers/land-ro...ce-centre/ as that is the nearest MD to me, but I kept getting cut off.

Seems a no brainer to me, £168.87 difference (& no courtesy car so some logistics to sort)

Thoughts people? How do those prices compare to what you have paid at MD/Indy? 2017 Loire Blue 3.0TDV6 Vogue

Sorry, but it's not a 'no brainer' to me, was the MD £169 more or less expensive than the others? Very Happy 1992 RR Classic 3.9 efi Vogue

Personally I wouldn't look at the price......but we all do......but I would now always consider service and do you want to have a long term relationship with a garage or just a 1 off service.

I wish I'd gone to Monarch 2 yrs ago and not used a local MOT Centre for my MOT who mullered my car, and then got absolutely humped by MD who couldn't care less about looking after their customer.....they just want to sell you a menu!!

People like John at Monarch give an honest approach to owning a used car, and now I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'd make sure the local independant can read your computer and give you a print out of the list of things thats being flagged as that was the difference for me!! Not all this visual stuff but what the actual car is telling them!!

I've spent about 6k in last 12 months for mechanical stuff, and I probably need to spend another 2k next month inc tyres but my car will be in A1 mechanical condition which gives huge peace of mind now......but more importantly now someone else knows my car inside out. all smug in my new plug!

I’ve been using a small Halfords MOT test centre near to us for a few years now. Not one of our cars has ever failed an MOT there nor have they ever tried to ‘sell us’ extra works. £35 to £39 per MOT and you can always get in with just several days notice (used to be £35, booked online recently and it has gone up to £39). They know the cars are only ever going there for MOT purposes and they know to be careful with the the cars whilst they have them. It’s a hidden gem, tucked away from main stream.

Team Valley (TV) serviced and maintained our previous L322 4.4TDV8 from new until we bought it. They obviously did a good job, there records were excellent and despite never being a TV customer ourselves they always went out of their way to answer any queries. Also, the car was sold to us an AU car by Lloyd LR Carlisle after being serviced and maintained by TV and it was a cracker of a RR Thumbs Up

Hello

Interesting my MY17 on 30K miles is due service and MOT

My Local LR dealer garage says it needs the 48k mile service... its £532 inc vat and the MOT is £40 at the same time.

A car would be free but they charge £20 covid clean charge?

Now I would ring round or take it to my garage I use for other cars we own (independent)... but it has a full LR service, has the full warranty and just seems realistically if I save £150... going to an independent is that worth it in the long run if / when I sell or if anything is needed while its in?

For this car I'm OK with the dealer price.

I've decided to go for TV LR. I've used them before and their reputation is excellent. Keep up the LR service history for now. So all booked in. 2017 Loire Blue 3.0TDV6 Vogue
