Strange "Pwarp" noise from brakes

Hi Guys,

Not sure if anyone can help, I have the occasional noise from my brakes, it almost sounds like a loud fart..
I had new disks and pads fitted 6 months / 5k ago... brakes have been ok, until the last couple of weeks.. I have had the garage check them and no faults founds..... but I still get the occaisional noise.
The brakes work perfectly... but the noise is staring to P155 me off!!!!!!

Any ideas Chaps ? Big Cry 4.4 V8 Vogue Adriatic - Cream leather

Hi RR,

It usually happens when braking during normal driving conditions, and is intermittant

Heard of "shields" on your Family Fords,Vauxhalls, and like but not on the FFRR.

I mostly get it when i have not fully depressed the brake pedal and you would think by the sound as if there was no pads at all , and when moving off when i release the brake pedal. But on very few occasions .

ITS NOT A FAULT WITH THE CAR ( LAZY USE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL ) Thumbs Up

Try taking your pads out, and coating the back (metal side) of them in copperslip - a sort of high temperature anti-corrosion compound - or grease which is commonly used in this application.

Just make sure you don't paint it onto the friction linings... Whistle

Hope this helps,

Dan. Thumbs Up

Dan if your brakes squeal, what is that a symptom of and how can it be remedied? My front ones squeal now and then at low speed in traffic. Discovery 4 HSE

RRUK - Remedy wise, although brake squeal can be more of an annoyance than a safety issue there are several possible fixes:

Strip & clean brakes coating with copperslip as above; renew damaged/worn anti rattle springs or clips; tighten/replace loose brake components etc. The list could go on forever - cheap non OEM brake components can also be a culprit.

Take a look at the following link, which does a pretty good job of going further into brake squeal:

Hope this explains it, and is of help.

Dan. Thumbs Up
