I’ve read several threads but none with the same symptoms!!!
My rear drivers door has suddenly stopped opening, the door popper rises and lowers with the central locking but when I pull the outer handle it moves about 2cms then no more the inner handle pulls as normal but the door doesn’t open at all!

So with the door not opening at all can I remove the door card to inspect with the door shut

yes you can. It may be the wire inside has moved out of the holder within the handle mechanism.
