All, I have a squeak, pretty sure its a pulley. It had a new alternator recently so ill rule that out. No noises once warm, only on cold start.

Before I shell out £170 on pulleys with tensioners attached just for the bearings, seeing if anyone knows the bearing details for these parts for the AJV8 4.2 SC (2006) - Of course I can take it all apart, check the bearings and then put it back together, but to save doing that twice its worth posting on here!

Hi Andy. Have you checked it's not the belt? I had the exact same symptoms in the past, squeaked for 2-3mins when cold but then was fine. A new belt cured mine, and I was certain it was a pulley as it didn't sound like a typical belt squeak.

Try a small squirt of water on the belt and see if it quietens down. Could save you some work/cash if it is the belt, nothing to lose trying it.

Good shout, I'll give that a try. They look in reasonable condition, no obvious perishing or cracking etc, but no idea on age, only had the car a month or so may just be old.

It was me who replaced the bearings, a very easy job and a very cheap job that can be done with nothing other then some sockets and a vice

Bearing king were excellent, less than 24 hours between ordering and delivery.

Just waiting on the belts from island 4x4 then I'll give it a go!

Re the squeak:

There’s a modification/ upgrade to one of the pulley’s where it was originally a flat pulley and it allowed the belt, at startup, to effectively slide around and squeak. The updated pulley is v-shaped. Once I changed mine, the squeak went away and I didn’t change any other bearings. I’ll look for a link.

That sounds useful! I'll have a look for that too, let me know if you find it in the meantime.

I now have the rest of the parts in my possession, so will post details of the viscous bearing once I've measured it etc.

I think the part number is PQR500350. The original pulley was totally flat and open, the new one v-shaped so higher sides; NOT v-grooves actually in the pulley. The diagram isn’t clear but there’s a greyed part number of PQR500350.

I’m in isolation atm so I can’t check but it appears to be the culprit.

So that part number PQR500350 applies to 19A216A on the diagram in my first post which I think is just a diagram reference.
