Smart key not found

My RR has had an intermittent fault for a few days now,
when you get in the vehicle it says smart key not found,

I found if I removed neg wire from the battery and reconnected it all was good.
the Battery is fully charged and only 2 years old.

But today nothing I tried would let it communicate with the car, I tried the spare key
and removed fuse 17, also I did the battery reset with cables touching.

Today I checked the KVM module in the boot but as far as I could see there was no corrosion
on the module or any water in the surrounding area.

Anyone got any suggestions about what I should do next or is it an expensive trip to the Main dealer

Take it you didn’t have the message on the dash saying battery was low in the smart key?

You should be able to get it to read the key by holding it on the dash, as per manual.

Both key fob batteries were replaced a few weeks ago and were working fine.

I also did the key under the dash as well, still does not recognise it

Not sure if this is likely but have you tried synching the keys? I have half an idea that if you don't replace the batteries in them within a certain time they go out of synch.

Might be totally wrong but, if you haven't tried it, nothing to lose John

You have to use Duracell batteries in the fob. Other battery brands sometimes don't work - just like this.

But then it should still read it when held against the dash....... should it not? Unless it’s now not synchronised? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I went out this morning to have another go at sorting the FF and it
recognised the key straight away.

The car was blocking my wife's car so I was thankfully able to move it away out of the way

I was then able to use the IID and check for codes, one was U201F-00 RFA intermittent and
some other audio codes, I am not sure if they will be related

I also checked with IID and it recognised both the keys, so obviously it is pointing to
a problem with the RFA, it also disables the central locking when it happens

I will monitor it through the day and see if it returns

Has anyone replaced their RFA module, I know where it is on the car
and looks straight forward to replace but I imagine it would need programmed to the car.
