New owner 1st tow

New guy here. 30days in on a 2011 HSE with high miles. Loving it actually. I let the wife take it today. She called... battery dead.

I don't know if a battery can die with a phone plugged in to the lighter? Anyway

We jump the battery and it seems strong but now it just keeps cranking over and over. Starts after about 8 cranks. I drive it 2 blocks and it dies. Says battery low. I crank it over a few times and it won't start. It doesn't seem like the battery at this point. Anyway..

Popped the hood... won't stay up. Is it supposed to? Look where the battery is! Damn time to call a tow.

Any guesses on the call from the shop tomorrow?

Call

The bonnet/hood should stay up on its own. Get new struts.
There is also the option to put the bonnet into service mode which raises it vertically to gain good access to the battery area. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Would the phone plugged into the lighter when car was off drain the battery?

On second jump attempt it wouldn't start. Just kept cranking over then stop.

Are the struts under the hood the same as the one holding up the trunk glass? Cause I think that's in need of replacing too.

Any suggestions on full set of struts? Will replace back window ones also. Looks like many options.

Bought these struts recently. They work ok. No idea about their long term reliability.

For the bonnet (hood): -

Boot (trunk): -

Using the same part numbers you might find something more local.

Fitting is a 10 minute job.

Unlikely a phone plugged into a lighter would drain a healthy battery unless you left it for weeks. These Range Rover's rely on a healthy battery, otherwise strange things happen. Easy enough to test the battery.

ok in trouble here. It's not the battery. Shop thinks its something to do with the alarm or the fob. It ran when the fob was in the cup holder area and turned off when moved. They don't have the stuff to mess with the alarm codes and say it should probably goto the LandRover Dealer shop.

they say maybe the fob is bad and the other fob I have will work.

any lifelines here? Suggestions?

oh geez. can it be that the low battery warning on the dash was the warning for a low fob battery?

If it was the Key, it would say Key battery low.

Turns out the fault codes were low pressure fuel pump circuit, and low pressure fuel sensor. They replaced the low pressure fuel sensor. Part number LR015356.

Labor and parts $587.00

Hope this may help anyone else out.
