You will also need the speed and heading input unit - speed is usually either a speedo head counter or taken off the propshaft, There should be an electronic compass built into the nav computer unit but I have no idea how you check. Speed input is very important for accuracy of the positional calculations especially at the high speeds you can achieve on the road and for when you loose the GPS signals close to tall buildings, in tunnels and underpasses and offroad under trees. This allows the computer to calculate a dead reckoning position when there is no signal. It is possible to use the incar GPS without these inputs, you loose the accuracy 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

The speed signal is taken from the ABS ECU, how it interfaces I'm not sure. Rave will tell you which data bus it goes through.

You might want to re-read your old thread - it's all there: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic4784.html?highlight=satnav

I took much more apart than you'd have to. With the retrofit harness, it's basically plug n play.

To get the system up and running you need:
- the monitor
- the nav computer
- the radio module
- a gps antenna (can be universal auto unit sold on ebay for Audi, BMW, etc- but must be waterproof)
- a wiring harness

You don't need either of the amps - it will be the equivalent of your present system w/o.

I assume someone has offered you the lot for GBP150 or the like? Make sure you don't wind up with:
- a monitor that has issues - they're not hard to come by so this is less of a prob
- a tv module for a 4:3 screen - newer ones can be coded for 16:9 by unsoldering and reprogramming an eprom, older ones can't
- a mkIII nav computer with a bum laser (the norm more than a good laser)
- a radio unit with one or more channels gone (also the norm)

These bits are relatively dear when in good shape - as the problems they have are not uncommon so they are sought after replacement parts.

And what are you going to do for a harness? Get back to me if you need help...

The Alpine system that Scarey linked to cost over $2000... To each his own is right.
