There is a button combination to put the park brake in service mode, which parks the EPb off the disks and resets the pads to the right position after once released.

This is a Range Rover Sport but the process is the same. Tells you how to set the park brake.

Fitted new EBC Greenstuff rear brake pads to the L405 TDv6 yesterday. TRW callipers (existing Greenstuff pads had been on about 3 plus years and were not done but were ready to be changed IMO. Genuine LR rear discs were replaced 3 years ago, no lipping at all and VGC on inspection so didn’t replace the discs). Have found the EBC greenstuff pads to be very very good pads all round with minimal dust, never any squeal, durable and great performance. Swear by them. Paid £53 for the rear pair of pads this time. The EPB maintenance mode sequence referenced here is very helpful. No diagnostic tool needed. There are YouTube videos on how to do it anyway, both to put it in service mode and to later release service mode. Found it challenging (and very sore on the hands) to get my caliper rewind tool to wind the piston back on both rear callipers (perhaps my poor technique but didn’t enjoy the rear piston wind back at all). The rears do need to be wound back, not pushed in. Easy job other than that but by god I did find winding back those rear pistons a pain, literally… |

Yes, watched that too and it’s very good although his brake piston rewind tools were different to the ones that frustrated and gave me sore hands…. and they always make it look slick in the corporate ‘buy from me’ 😂👍 |

That’s the same set as I’ve got… found it very sore on the palms of the hands trying to wind the pistons back and they took ages… must have been doing something wrong… |

If you are trying to turn it by hand, then yes it is hard. Hold the small t-handle in one hand and turn the big nut with a wrench. The wrench does the work, not your hand. Everything should be a little loose in the calliper too. This method gets the pistons back in a minute or two. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8 |

If you have an air source, these are much better - same as the snap-on ones sold for ~£200 (I never buy snap-on) Mine is a Laser tools branded one, all made in the same Chinese factory.
