Ringing the last number is the standard for a single press on the telephone button. John

Someone posted a similar issue recently, and I made the mistake of replying as above..... he means the voice button, not the phone button. So something strange may be going on.

Ok, I must now admit that that might have been on the Facebook group and not on here.... oops.

Evening all, I plugged in the Navcoder & scanned the Ulf module, in the dialogue box it said unidentified module (or words to that affect) so scrolled down the available units & found Ulf, filled in the boxes, enabled voice & coded. My phone contacts were visible on the dash ( scrolled through them, all there), so tried the voice button to dial a name, after I said the command (dial name) it said " No phonebook" It's clearly there, so I manually entered a few names/numbers, then tried the "Dial Name" command, it worked. Now I was under the impression that when the phonebook is downloaded to the car from a phone, that the numbers/names would automatically be available by using the voice button ? is this not the case? is the technology too old? Forgot to add in the first post this morning that I also had to manually enter the names in the gen3 to get the voice command to work, at that time the gen3 never downloaded my phone book, hence changed to this gen9. thanks for your replies, it's appreciated, any thoughts will be welcome.

I don’t believe it works like that. Voice command is a separate function really. Your phone book is only on the screen and the cluster for you to scroll through.

Here’s the BMW ULF manual, if you don’t have it.

I have a separate voice and phone button on my 2011 so I might be having a blonde moment 🤣 looks like the voice button on is supposed to redial the last number called.... need a longer press to use voice....

Hello, Thanks for the manual MJ, very informative, so it looks like all's fine, I'll input the rest tomorrow, I have got the pairing connections running from the back to the front of the car, its coiled up inside the rear access panel, my bottle went when I tried to remove the pillar trim between the front & rear doors to run the cable in, tried pulling it off but its tight & i didn't want to break it, I just throw the cable & switch over to the front seat & pair from there, beats connecting at the 54pin plug & then running round to the front to get in the car & turn the ignition key. will have to bite the bullet I think, I just need to work out where to put it, got to cut a 19mm hole for the switch to come through, somewhere near the power socket I think, if there is enough room inside the plastic panel that is, switch is about 15mm deep, bought 5 of them from Amazon, the type that make connection when button pushed in, broke connection when let go, so ideal. Thanks for info & suggestions.

I never fitted a switch in the front, as I figured you only need to use it when you get a new phone, plus you can also put it into pairing mode with Navcoder.

Worth having a look, I'm off work Thursday & Friday (well at the moment I am) so I'll probably have a look then.
