I noticed this morning that the front offside corner of our L322 was a bit low. It came up fine when I started the engine, so I thought “glitch”. Then while driving I had a “suspension fault” message. Parked up at the shops and it sagged while I was shopping. Started up and it came up again.

By now I’m no longer thinking “glitch”. On the drive home I noticed the level indicator showed it was low. I tried to bring it up manually and had “vehicle lifting slowly”. Then “suspension will raise when system cooled”. By the time I got home it was low at the front and would not raise.

After a few hours, I started it and up the front came. Get out to hear a loud hissing.

The “when cooled” message apparently comes up when the compressor gives up trying to fill a leaking airbag. This morning has the hallmarks of a slow leak becoming a fast leak. Best practice is, so I’ve read, to replace both sides at the same time.

So, any ideas on how much I am looking at for this fix? I’ve watched the YT videos showing how, ahem, easy it is to do yourself. I’m reasonably handy but it’s not a job I fancy undertaking. Range Rover 4.2 SC

I done mine for £60. Bought a 2nd hand strut and a pair of bolts and nuts.

Your asking why the nuts and bolts? Unscrew the nut a bit and really give it some strength. Even with heat on mien it wouldn't shift so really ended up messing the thread and nut up with sheer strength and agression. Its easy enough to do yourself mate. Most dealers will charge you 2 hours labour per strut

It's not too bad a job.
Soak all the bolts in wd40 a few times before doing it. I got stuck with a big bolt on the driver's side being sentimental...
Use an impact if you have one.
