Total vehicle weight about 2.7 tonnes so either axle load will be less than 2 tonnes......but how much do you value your life? When it comes to safety I always prefer to air on the side of caution. Not worth taking the slightest risk. I bought higher spec axle stands for this very reason....if they fail it could be too late for you , a loved one or good mate especially if you also think of additional forces from pulling on stuck nuts etc. 2012 tdv8 Westminster arrived Jan 19 gone Dec 23

I'm with you there Bob hence my question. I'm normally an axle stands man as a minimum usually as it's too easy for things to wrong very quickly. Unfortunately on this occasion my car is on a slight gradient which would mean the axle stands not being at a right angle between floor and car and that gives me no confidence at all. 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE |

The safe working load already has a factor of safety built in (normally something like 4 times the SWL) so a 2 tonne ramp or axel stand should easily and safely coupe with a 2 tonne static load. The question should be is the item from a none manufacturer with a good reputation and the correct quality and safety certification, if so you are good.

They will be fine. I use similar ramps myself. If you feel nervous, pop some stands under too as a belt and braces approach. Kev
