Air Con doesn’t seem to be working again

When I first got the car the AC wasn’t working, put it on the machine at work and unsurprisingly it had a leak in the system, turns out the condenser was a state so I replaced that and plugged in again, held vacuum perfectly for ages so regassed with the correct amount of R134A, AC working perfectly, put it on briefly today just to test it and the blower motor changed sound as usual but it didn’t feel particularly cold at all.
I’ve read there is a solenoid on the compressors which can fail but I’m not sure if this applies to a 2007 3.6 or only the later 4.4s.
There doesn’t seem to be any change in revs when I press the AC button so am unsure the compressor is kicking in?.
I will check if it has gas in the system tomorrow as if it does and isn’t leaking I’m scratching my head a bit here to be honest.
Car has been sitting for a week if that makes a difference?.

Just had my ac sorted and although it was a saga the original issue was the compressor - the solenoid as you say. Compressor was actually in v good condition but you cant buy just the solenoid. Obviously mine is a later SC but I doubt the ac would vary between models - its still got to cool the same volume of space inside. Mike - MPx

Oddly the compressors do look different from the pictures I’ve seen between the 3.6 and 4.4 I’m not sure if the SC has a different one too?.

Could anyone confirm wether the 3.6 has the same compressor as the 4.4 with the solenoid which usually fails?.

Well I was obviously way off! Embarassed

Just looked them up and there are gazillions of different ones. Good luck with making any sort of informed choice.

I couldn’t get it on the machine at work today but did put a rudimentary gauge on it from one of the bottles which people have to gas up yourself (I didn’t add any gas at all)
The first picture is with the engine running and AC switched off, the second is with the AC turned on although it was fluctuating up and down slightly but staying well within the green, I did do a video but unsure how to upload it?:

I’m thinking maybe it has been over gassed? Could this cause the same issues?.

Edited to add that I have uploaded the video of the gauge to my gallery now.

Plugged in machine again today and it only has about 20g of gas left in it, down from being refilled from 750g a couple of weeks ago.
Are there any common areas where they get leaks from?, the condenser is new so I doubt it’s there this time.

Mine had a leak on the high pressure side from where the pipe is fitted to a plastic clip. Best way to find it is to put dye in it and look with a UV light 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
2005 4.4V8 (M62) Bonatti Grey/ Parchment interior - gone
1998 4.6HSE Blue/ Cream interior (can't remember exact colours) - gone
1977 White - gone (should have kept)

I had a leak in a pipe at the front of the engine which had been rubbing against the earth strap. Have a look at this post:

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic48325.html

I only found it when I had the UV die put in it to check for leaks so agree that is best way forward.
