DPF red - visit dealer

Hi all

I went on a Landrover experience last week

My friends said did they take you to the side of the motorway and call the RAC lol

Anyway, I’m now trying to get to Nairn in Scotland for our weekend away and the red warning has come on

Currently just north of Lockerbie on M74

It’s in limp mode and I’m a bit stuck

Can I use the Gap to regen ?

I can’t find anything on the forum that says if it’s possible or not

I’ve cleared the code and it immediately comes back on

Any help appreciated

Looks like I’m on the real landrover experience this week !

No, sorry but the Gap iid can’t force a regen.
Did it come on after miles of motorway driving ?
If so, most likely to have been caused by an air leak in the air intake.
A split in one of the 4 short plenum hoses is favourite.

Thanks Mike
Yes it did come on after 100 miles of motorway driving
I will stop at the next junction and check the 4 hoses
If I use cruise control after half an hour of motorway driving I get a red warning so I don’t use cruise control anymore maybe the faults are related
I didn’t get a yellow dpf warning it went straight to red.

I bet a hose is split somewhere causing an air leak.
Either one of the 4 plenum hoses or the join between the intercooler and throttle body or an inlet manifold is split.
A high pressure smoke test will reveal any leaks. Has to be high pressure. A "normal" pressure one that most garages have will not suffice.

Im trying to get up the road so I needed to on my way ideally

The girls and wife were sat waiting so here’s what we did

DPF cleaned with forte cleaner (Added and taken for a drive to clean out)

Level reset to 0

Light out and I’m monitoring the build up, it’s going Up slowly, then when I get to where I’m going they recommend a forced regen

That’s it for now

Currently in a traffic jam on A9.

Thanks for your help

What was the root cause though? DPF doesn’t go red for no reason Whistle

Arrived in Nairn and all is well

No other faults were found as to the cause of the red warning

I suspect if I’d left it and asked them find the root cause they would have

He had it on ramps and couldn’t find anything wrong

I was in and out with working car within 1.5hrs for £80 so I was happy enough given the circumstances

It Just came up with the same fault I posted on there computer

We watched the DPF rise over the next 2 hours to from 0.1 to 18.9 the exhaust gas temp B1S2 went from 300 deg to 640 deg and the number dropped to 8 and was slowly falling. So we all cheered and looked to regen and I turned the gadget off.

It’s booked into JAS Landrover at the end of sept for root cause to be determined also the cruise control REstricted performance issue also , maybe related , don’t know.

Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply

IC
