Oil in plug on actuator

Hi there
Im new to this site but Ive had my RR Vogue since 2016
Its not under warranty
Been having a real saga as it showed yellow engine warning light and went to limp mode.
I took it to the independent guy I use and he said there had been an oil leak which filled the plug on the actuator on the turbo.
Basically the oil has followed the current in the electrics?
He sent the actuator away for repair and cleaned it up but says the fault hasnt gone away.
Apparently Land rover themselves dont do any repair or replacement to the actuator and would just change the turbo at huge expense to me.
Ive now been told this should be a recall issue with foc repair to me but Land Rover aren’t acknowledging that and say I need to book it to a maindealer.
I have explained to Lookers and they say they arent aware of any recall for this and want big bucks just to do diagnosis.
Anyone know anything that can help please?
thanks Rob

Actuator is available as a separate part, £465 + VAT, last time I had to replace one Thumbs Up

Hi

Are you using a Land Rover indy or a garage that works on anything with the occasional Land Rover/ Range Rover coming in?

Thanks for getting back to me guys.

So its good to know you can buy the actuator as he told me if it went would need whole new turbo.
Do you have a link to that or can you let me know where you purchased the actuator from please?
Thankfully it hasnt actually failed ...it just filled up with oil due to the leak that had come down the wire
(apparently!)

As to my indie guy, he is Land Rover specialist.

so as it stands, all is working but the actuator plug will be slowly filling back up with oil & a matter of time
before I get the yellow emissions light & limp mode again.
many thanks
Kedgers

I am not an L405 expert, but I know their is a thread on here detailing a service bulletin with a mod to the oil level monitoring wiring on 2016 - ish L405’s to prevent the actuator failing because of oil contamination. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

As Mikey has posted above it is a LR recall.

I had my wiring amended FOC at our local LR garage. Not sure what the result would be regarding a knock on failure of the actuator. But LR are definitely aware of the design fault in the oil level sensor wiring and are replacing that part FOC. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Its not a recall, only a TSB, to aid in diagnostics and repairs

If you had it done FOC, you were either under manufacturers warranty, or very lucky Thumbs Up
