Iidtool ecu update - anyone had it fail?

Mr paranoid here is pretty certain his pcm needs updating and I also have the California stop issue on the gearbox.

I have a monster 110ah battery on my 4.2 recently fitted and a trickle charger.

My worry is if something goes wrong with the update is it bricked!? Does it take long?

surely the first step is to back up your current pcm settings?
so you can reload those then go again

blame long covid for me getting the wrong end of the stick. yes I used a ctek 10amp supply

You really ought to have a constant supply on it for any flashing. I have a 10A CTek but I think 25A is recommended. As a fallback some have used jump leads to another vehicle. You can keep the engine running on that one so the alternator does the work. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks I used my trickle charge but tbh I have a 110ah new battery I flashed the air suspension module with a full battery and trickle and it took one minute and all good.

I plucked up the courage to get the pcm one but it’s already on the latest so I just need the transmission which I will do next Current stable:
