In the process of collecting a new SDV8 ATB. The tailgate closes with a clunk rather than with the soft close that my current or previous car of the same model. I believe this can be sorted by adjusting the soft close catch/mechanism. Anyone else had that problem? I left the car with the dealer to fix rather than accept delivery.

They are also adjusting the driver side bonnet catch which doesn't catch easily.

Thanks. That what I have assumed. The dealer tried to persuade me it was "within tolerance". But I suggested it wasn't within my tolerance for such an expensive car. I’m keen to adjust the tailgate soft close myself and wondered if there are any instructions in adjusting? The tailgate is all nicely aligned but the tailgate slams with no second click. Now fixed. I investigated lower tailgate bolts adjustment and noticed when the garage had realigned the upper tailgate they must have adjusted the lower tailgate hinges..noting disturbed paint

Readjusted lower tailgate hinges and now soft close working again

Seems like the soft close is very sensitive to tailgate alignment and just slams shut without soft close if it’s out.. 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

Does anyone know how to get to the lower tailgate motor ?

It appears to be inside the lower tailgate. I can get the plastic end trim off, but can’t figure out how to get under the carpet.

My upper is fine and the lower opens - and when pushed manually it soft closes, but makes no attempt to close itself.

Not sure how to get at the motor. Maybe something on the web?
