Having AFS problems with a 2004 registered pre production 2006 model year 4.2SC

The adaptive front light warning came on with these error codes which will not clear

FLM-HeadLight

U1A38-87 (AF) Communication malfunction of left actuator - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

U1A39-87 (AF) Communication malfunction of right actuator - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

In the past there has been this fault code, which is not currently showing

FLM-HeadLight

U3000-55 (68 ) Control module - System programming failure - is not configured
( on 27-08-2019 07:49:31 at 238922 km )

So far this has been done

Replaced the battery
Swapped the headlamps & AFS ECU with known working ones
Checked the feed from the AFS ECU to headlamp plugs which is fine.

Any suggestions on what could be the cause of the problem or where to look next?

Fuse box has suffered a water leak at some stage.

Replacement ordered which will hopefully cure the fault

is it the boot seal that is leaking ?

It is the glove box fuse box

wow how has the water got in there ?

Not sure, as it was dry when I took it out. That will be the next job to find out if & where it's coming from!

If water has got into the fusebox, also disconnect the plug on the AFS ecu in the passenger footwell and look into the pins. My AFS didn't work and after finding half the connectors in the plug were green I cleaned them. All seems good now. 2006 MY FFRR 4.2 S/C autobiography (Auckland Blue - 901)
