No/Minimal Heating

2011 4.4
4 zone climate
First time in a while I turned the heater dial round to hot. Very minimal temp difference.
Same passenger and rears.
I have felt the pipes from the unit on nearside turret and they are hot.
I suspect an actuator or similar is stuck somewhere.

Any clues?

When my 322s had heating problems they were cured by replacing the final stage resistor and lubricating the flaps that control where the hot air goes, I didn't do the work so can't offer more than that, sorry. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Wot CS Said. Its normally the flaps sticking. Try removing the pollen filter and have a look. Mine worked after I refitted the pollen filter.

I've had my 2003 L322 for nearly 5 years and have often complained about the lack of heat into the cabin.

I even started checking the heater valves under the bonnet looking for a fault

However, recently I found if I forgo Auto mode and select the face-level vents (and/or foot level vents) manually the heat into the cabin is far too hot! I have to reduce the heat with the central face-level thumbwheel. (It's winter here so it's as cold as 10-12 deg C in the morning). Ron B. VK2OTC

I’m sure it was fine before. However, I have only had it on full cold ac for a while now.
Anyone have a diagram of the heater unit?
I have partially stripped the dash and have found the face heater flap.

Finally found time to look deeper into this today.
After several hours working out the cooling system, turned out to be the heater control valve on the drivers side.
Removed the valve and disassembled. The lower o ring must have swollen and wasn’t allowing it to open.
Just used a tool to take some of the material away and free up the plunger.
Works perfect now.

All the information I found was for the 3.6 tdv8.
I think it is only the 4.4 tdv8 that has this valve, however I could be wrong.
The valve was bolted to the drivers side front suspension turret.
Same place as the double valve on passenger side.

From what I can work out, it directs coolant from either the engine or the FBH.
Unlike the earlier engines, coolant from the FBH never flows through the engine.
