There is a chip in the key that activates the barrel to allow you to turn the key.

Fully agree with the above, just to add, if you open the key to remove the battery, you are looking for a small black magnet! The size of a small eraser ✏️ on the back of a pencil... You can pull them out easily enough! Maybe swap it for one in a working key and prove the theory before speaking to Duckworth 👍 OH and BE CAREFUL not to drop said magnet as they are tricky little things! Remove it over a dinner tray is my top tip |
