How often do fault codes appear?

Hi
Newbie question...would an Amber fault appear if I start the engine, shut it down and then start again say 5 minutes later? What I mean is does it appear each time I start the ignition or only after the engine has been shut down for hours and then restarted? I only seem to get my 'Adaptive Dynamics' fault appearing sometimes and I'm trying to understand if I've an intermittent fault or not. (I've read the thread on this fault).
2010 facelift 3.6TDV8
Thanks

I reckon that an existing fault will show up every time you fire up the car.
That's what the system is there to tell you.

I don't know much about adaptive dynamics etc, but intermittent fault would push me to a loose or broken wire/connector in the first sequence. L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue. 07MY

Probably one or more of the wires out of top of shocks are broken

Thanks for the replies, good to know so it's intermittent I've looked at the wires at the front, no breaks, drivers side is upgraded and other side looked fine but I removed and soldered in new wires on passenger side, took it for a drive and so far so good. Possible a passenger wire was broken inside the insulation I guess. Inspected rears and they look fine. Will probably replace both front ones. Could certainly do with IID tool but spent too much recently Laughing
Cheers
