Leaves going into body cavity

Hi all

I opened the bonnet and noticed that a lot of leaves as grouped left and right near hinges for bonet. It was worse but i only Thought to photographed After I cleared it. Clearing them out it seemed they could easily fail down into the front wing body panel. Was wondering of my car is missing something here that allows this or iof just poor design? Having rotting vegetation falling into the panel, alumininium or not, seemed a bad idea.

Perhaps is worse because the car is sitting still near trees and so stuff falls on windscreen and slips down front easier.

Anyone else noticed this?

Hi Again.
I just ran out and had a look I was mistaken, the holes are the same as yours.
However in the large round holes there is a plastic cover sitting under the two large round holes.
You could just make some round shaped discs out of duct tape or the equivalent of and tape over you problem holes .
Hope that helps.

Is yours a facelift car, there were some knocking around on 67 plates?

Mine is a 2019 car and is the same as yours, I notice Stans is a 2016 car and has square bungs/grommets around the wiper spigots. I'd never realised they changed that much between model years.

Thanks all.

This is a weird one. I wonder if I am missing something?

Stans 2016 looks a better solution.

My car isn’t a facelift as far as I know has the latest infotainment but is a 2017 plate.

If there is something missing I’d like track it down and fix. Because current solution not great.

Is that screw loose stan?

Andrew

Ps thank goodness for ffrr where else could I ask this sort of question Wink --

I just took another look there is a rubber peice under bonet which sits down on top of the square plastic blocks but it seems still has space for crap to get through. --

If you wanted to close the holes search ebay for black textured paint protection film. You could cut it to shape and stick it along the top edge.

You can see here there is a piece of foam under bonnet that sits on the plastic locks and between them stop crap getting into the hinge area. Except gaps are perhaps too big and allow stuff through.

Its strange as Stans looks a better design. Mine is a 19MY car but has the plastic trim with channels moulded into the far ends of the plastic trim, like yours, which sits on top of a piece of foam/rubber stuff. After reading your post, I went out with an airline and the amount of crud and bits of leaf that came out from that area was worrying and I don’t park under trees.

I suppose it would be interesting to see what another SDV8 and a V6 look like to compare.
