Removing stuck wheels

I’m changing the front brake pads on mine. Was going to do that the other week but noticed two lug nuts were swollen so I ordered new lug nuts. Anyway managed to get the lug nuts off with a lot of effort, but my gosh that wheel was stuck to the hub. More so than the rear ones.

So I got a big hammer and banged it, but it still wouldn’t shift. Was searching online and the ideas are to use another Jack to push it off or refit the wheel with loose nuts and go for a drive. Hmmmm

Then I had a brainwave and the wheels on mine aren’t fully mated to the hub, they touch in five places and have holes in them. So the lug nut removal tool other side is not just good to stand on to loosen the nuts, but is also a great wheel from hub removal breaker bar 😂

The wheel came off easy in the end 😍

Naturally I will use copper grease on the touching surfaces unlike the previous owner 👍

The wheels have little openings, perfect to put the back of the lug nut removal tool in between the spokes.

Like in that gap Smile

Aha! Your wheels have a lot of room between the spokes. Mine are the standard 20" Vogue rims and that method won't work. I'm not sure if an angled tip pry bar would work.

Fortunately, I haven't had the problem with locked on wheels with the RRC, P38A, nor L322. I do/did keep the hubcentric bit lubed with anti-seize. Ron B. VK2OTC

I just hit the tyre with a sledgehammer, one side then the other, until it pops the wheel off, if a good kicking doesn't do it first... .

Yes mine won’t be stuck anymore. I’ve got a nice tub of copper grease to put on the hub and the surfaces.

I’m not keen on a sledge hammer, afraid I’ll damage the rims or tyres or knock it off the jack 😂
