Replacing EGR pipe and EGR coolant thermostat changing TD6

I think the 2 parts I need are:

PEL000070 - EGR coolant thermostat

and I think WAP000260 (does anyone have a photo of this part please? Cant find an image anywhere)

Any idea if this is a pig of a job to do? Or an easy one?

My EGR pipe (I think WAP000260) has split on one of the joins and in turn, melted the EGR coolant thermostat Big Cry

Biggest fiddle, getting the fan and shroud out. .

There's a short piece of plain rubber vacuum hose you may need to remove to get to one of the bolts securing the thermostat. You might want to get a replacement for that in advance (any motor factor), then you can just cut the old one away and replace with new rather than struggle to pull it off the pipe each end - mine didn't want to budge.

There's a spring inside the thermostat. Take care if you want to remove the metal "C" clip to separate the two halves so you can reuse the existing hose connection - the spring will try to push the halves apart and you might lose bits from inside.

Have you considered deleting the whole EGR/EGR Cooler assembly?

I did my EGR stat a month or so ago. Didn't need to remove the fan or shroud, just the top cover that hides the stat. Maybe I was lucky but the little rubber vacuum pipe came off no problem.

And echo the comment about the spring inside - I didn't realise and the contents of the stat flew across the workshop. I think you only need to separate them to reuse the hose connection if using a non-LR stat. I got mine from Eurocarparts - listed for an X5 - and needed to swap the hose connections over.

Also, make sure you get the O ring that seals the stat to the EGR. I had to get that from Ducky Dan. 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile
