you'd be waiting at the entrance for a long time cos its closed....

but i agree that having it done at a depot is better as it would have the right conditions and many staff to help do the job if needed.. ... - .- -.

Which is why I’ve chosen the one a bit closer to home Thumbs Up

I’m insured with LV and the windscreen excess is £190 Shocked

I know I’m no spring chicken but I remember when you paid less for a windscreen without using insurance Big Cry

I just had to check mine - it's £75

I guess LV have calculated that a lot of people don't factor the windscreen excess into the calculation of who is cheapest...

Waiting for mine to be replaced by AG. It was booked in for 9am on Tue 24th March but Boris made his lock-down announcement the evening before and that has delayed matters. MY23 D350 HSE

That’s the thing, they weren’t the cheapest. I went with them because a friend said they were excellent on dealing with his claim when he had his LR stolen.

It seemed to be a top priority on a RR as so many seemed to get pinched Big Cry

I saw the windscreen was covered but to be honest didn’t even check the excess Neutral

Last July As I renewed , I did notice the extra LV charge for the windscreen, Having just had a replacement, which wasn’t the Range Rover badged one I had ordered, I thought I have had my share of damaged windscreens. I took the cheaper policy.

A few weeks ago, a lump of iron flew up off the motorway and hit the car with an almighty thud... when I got to the next village indeed a 10 inch cracked windscreen, but the iron was angled and twisted in the air to hit the panoramic roof... also 6 inch cracked Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

I recall reading in my insurance that panoramic roofs are not included as glass... Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Anyway long story short ... the nice people at Autoglass checked my policy, it was covered after all, I had forgotten I had changed to LV. Thumbs Up

LV cover ALL glass. Single payment of £175.00 Thumbs Up Replacement for both around £4000.00. Shocked

Suggest you all take a look to see if the panoramic roof glass is covered... anything to avoid a proper insurance claim. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

That puts a slightly different spin on it.

Mine specifically excludes the roof - "Panoramic sunroofs are not covered under glass claims"

However, I'm with SAGA as they are the only company that I could find who offer unlimited European use - before I was 50 I was paying a chunky extra premium for the extra time abroad.

Yes I used saga the previous year, and thought I was still with them, hence my initial angst.

Only solace For you is this was really a freak accident. If the metal wasn’t right angled. It would of just taken the windscreen. You would be covered by the actual policy, just not the glass section.

The very good thing is it hit my car and not a biker... instant good night nurse time. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. I had new windscreen due to chip. I am with LV and insisted on LR windscreen. I just had to wait a few days longer.

£75.00 excess. The 2 guys that fitted were excellent. They also advised 2 new wipers which they supplied at £16.00 each. ------------------------------------------

I’ve double checked my policy documents and it clearly states £190 excess. Don’t know how some of you guys are getting cheaper a excess with the same company Big Cry

All done.

Guys at Autoglass we’re very professional and I hadn’t realised how dirty the inside of the old screen was Embarassed
Looks to be a professional job, let’s hope I’m not eating my words when it rains.

Was hoping there had been some confusion on the excess cost, unfortunately not had to part with £190 of my hard earned Big Cry
