td6 gearbox

hello all ive bought a td6 with suspected gearbox fault, drives around in like a limp mode but does go back to normal now and then. after checking the basics autobox level is under level half inch or so and its got auto trans dv1 [gm dexron v1]. what ive read im i right in saying it should have dextron 3 in it. will these cause the problems or is it the gearbox u/s nothing coming up on dash. if so anyone know a good gearbox repair service in lancashire england. thanks in advance.

Good morning

My advice as a TD6 owner is to use the oil that BMW originally filled the box with at the factory

You can pick 20L for around £80.

Well if it were me I would do a double oil change and add a dose of Dr Tranny Just to see if this fixed the problem. It would cost you less than £100 and may resolve your problem.
